With the San Román wines, Bodegas Mauro expanded its activities in the lands of Toro in the late 1990s.
The García family's interest in the D.O. Toro started in 1995 with the monitoring of different parcels of old vineyard. It was in 1996 when they bought the first vineyards and lands in the Valladolid towns of Pedrosa del Rey, Villaester and San Román de Hornija. In 1997, the winery located in Pedrosa del Rey was inaugurated and years later, the vineyard area in Morales de Toro was expanded.
San Román Bodegas y Viñedos is the second winery owned by Mariano García and his family on the banks of the Duero, after Bodegas Mauro and Garmón Continental.
Three wine projects created taking into account the singularities of each territory.
San Román has an area of 140 hectares of organic vineyards, in conversion to biodynamic viticulture, with the aim of increasing organic matter and favoring biodiversity in the soil.
