The Joaquín Rebolledo winery is located in Valdeorras, a northeastern region of the province of Ourense. This natural gateway to Galicia is shaped by a deep, fertile and bright valley, through which the peaceful river Sil flows. Here are our vineyards, occupying an area of 35 hectares perfectly oriented to the sun, with slate and clay soils, where also chestnut and olive trees grow.
The philosophy that Joaquín Rebolledo has taught us is to be a pioneer, always looking for new trends, relying on the base of our terroir and the wisdom of these valleys. Always restless, we make our red and white wines, increasingly complex and demanding.
The family house of Joaquín Rebolledo has more than 4 generations, from it the vineyards of Fontei, Freixido, Trasdeirelas, Pedrazais, A Veiquiña, O Redondo and San Roque are contemplated. From the viewpoints of the vineyards, 700 m. of altitude, the riverbed of the Sil with all its vineyards is contemplated in an area where the thermal differences between day and night can exceed 20 degrees.
The Rebolledo family was a pioneer 40 years ago in the recovery of the Godello grape. Thanks to the impulse of Joaquín Rebolledo and his risky bet, today the winery owns a Godello vineyard with an average age of 35 years old. The power of this variety, as well as the peculiarities of the Valdeorras soil, have led the most prominent Spanish winemakers to make wines in Valdeorras.
La Mencía is the quintessential red variety of the entire Northwest of the peninsula. Joaquín Rebolledo's prestige in reds is extraordinary and he continues to win top-level awards in national and international competitions with his young and aged wines.
