Valduero is a family winery and one of the oldest within the D.O. Ribera del Duero. It was created by Gregorio García Álvarez in 1984 in the Burgos town of Gumiel de Mercado, located in the heart of the Ribera del Duero. At that time, there were only half a dozen bottling wineries in the region and despite being a wine-growing region with a proven tradition among connoisseurs due to its quality, it was still an area unknown to the general public.
In 1987 is when the winery begins its growth. Currently, the business is run by the two daughters of Don Gregorio, who have continuously increased the volume of their production, but always maintaining the highest quality. From that year on, the project has been developed with a firm step and three basic pillars: own low production vineyard (200 Has.), the construction of a unique winery due to the combination of aesthetic and practical sense; and the market, growing in exports.
