Nikka Whisky

The Yoichi distillery is Nikka's first, built in 1934. Founder Masataka Taketsuru chose the town of Yoichi in Hokkaido for its environmental conditions similar to those of Scotland, where he learned to make whisky.

Yoichi single malt whiskies are described as intense and robust, with refined peat notes and a smoky character derived from traditional direct charcoal distillation. The sea breeze from Ishikari Bay imparts a saline nuance to the whisky during its maturation.
